Dangers of Obesity

As more Americans find themselves falling into the obese category, they are also dealing with issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, and a shorter life expectancy. For those who do not take the situation seriously, the problem of being obese can become a matter of life and death.

One recent study reported that an estimated 97 million adults in the United States are overweight or obese.

Large gains in obesity have occurred over the last decade, with increases seen in both sexes and all socioeconomic classes. The largest increase was seen in the 18 to 29 age group.
